Simmons to prevent team exits via partnership deed amendment

Simmons & Simmons has implemented new measures in a move intended to prevent team exits. The changes, which were voted through in October 2016, involve three amendments to the firm’s partnership deed. The changes follow a group exit in which a four-partner intellectual property (IP) team left the firm for Allen & Overy (A&O) in 2016. The group included Marc Döring, Marian Noor, Mark Heaney and David Stone. The group departed from Simmons & Simmons over the course of four months. The new partnership deed sets forth a time period during which Simmons partners are prevented from taking a team with them following an exit.
