Holman Fenwick seals association in Indonesia
Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW) has just announced a long-awaited association with Rahayu & Partners , an Indonesian firm based in Jakarta.
HFW has been angling for a deal in Indonesia for some time, according to senior partner Richard Crump. In 2015, the firm began preparing to broaden its Indonesia practice by hiring Haydn Dare from Herbert Smith Freehills, a Jakarta-based partner.
Dare had been in Indonesia since 2012, when he began to work with [Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung ], a firm associated with Herbert Smith.
Dare will now be working closely with Rahayu & Partners founder Sri Rahayu, who is joining HFW as a partner. The two will also be joined by Brian Gordon, a corporate partner based in Singapore, in establishing the office.
However, that’s not the only tie-up HFW was recently involved in. In late 2016, HFW also merged with [Legge Farrow Kimmitt McGrath & Brown ], a civil litigation boutique in Texas. According to the firm, this first office in the United States is meant as a strategic entrance into US energy and marine markets.
HFW continues on the trajectory of growth it started in 2015/16, jumping up 16 percent in 2016/17 from £143.1m to £165.7m.
