Jones Day picks up Linklaters team in Paris
Jones Day has hired three new lawyers from Linklaters. The Linklaters team is comprised of partner David Swinburne along with Sylvain Kabeya and Kévin Bousset. They will be joining Jones Day’s Paris-based private equity practice.
Swinburne started as an associate at Linklaters in 2004 and has been a partner at the firm since 2007. Prior to that he began his career at Willkie Farr & Gallagher’s office in France.
Swinburne recently advised OVH Groupe, a cloud-computing company, in acquiring VMware’s US and EU business. He has worked representing Alcentra and Barings in their project restructuring clothing company Vivarte, and also representing Macquarie in dealings with the oil storage company Pisto.
This news follows on the heels of Jones Day’s acquisition of a whole real estate team from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. Freshfields has not had any real estate capability in Paris since February, when real estate head Erwan Le Douce-Bercot took a team of three with him to the US.
This is also not Linklaters’ first loss, after Kiril Bougartchev and counsel Emmanuel Moyne left the Paris practice to start a business crime boutique earlier in 2017.
