Barclays appoints new general counsel positions

November 14, 2017 Barclays has announced the appointments of several high profile general counsel positions in the United States.

Former head of banking legal for the Americas Casey Kobi has been promoted to the global head of banking. Prior to joining Barclays in 2005, Kobi served as vice president of investment banking at Lehman Brothers as well as working as an associate at Sidney Austin.

Bert Fuqua has been appointed as global head of markets. Formerly of UBS, Fuqua has had experience as general counsel of the investment bank division of the Americas, as well as head of legal of the Americas investment banking department.

Emma Bailey has been promoted to Americas general counsel, after joining the bank in 2000 and most recently holding the title of legal head of Americas shared services. Bailey will be called upon to advise the board of directors.

The appointments are part of a larger plan by Barclays International to restructure, requiring current Americas general counsel Mark Shelton to shift his focus to Barclays International.
