Linklaters expands in Germany with Hamburg launch
Linklaters is set to open up its fifth German office in Hamburg during the first quarter this year. The motivation for the launch is to increase banking work in the country.
In lieu of making lateral hires for the new office, the firm is instead transferring two partners from Frankfurt and Dusseldorf. Frankfurt tax partner Jens Blumenberg and Dusseldorf corporate law partner Wolfgang Sturm will be joined by six associates from their branches in the launch.
In order to lay the groundwork for the launch, lawyers from the four German offices the firm now has in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, and Munich have been “increasingly working with many Hamburg-based clients,” according to a Linklaters spokesperson, who went on to emphasize that they are “very much looking forward” to the launch.
