Clifford Chance adopts UN standards of conduct on LGBTI
Clifford Chance has signed up to adopt the United Nations’ standards of conduct, designed to promote LGBTI equality in the workplace. Joining such companies as Coca-Cola Company, Gap, and IKEA, Clifford Chance is the first firm in the magic circle to make the commitment.
The ideals of the initiative are to respect LGBTI workers’ human rights by supporting them at work and eliminating workplace discrimination, and to stand up for the same human rights of LGBTI people in the communities surrounding a given company.
As reported by The Lawyer, 17 law firms were praised on Stonewall’s list of top 100 employers for LGBT staff. In fact, five of the top ten companies listed were law firms, with Pinsent Masons snagging second place, Clifford Chance in fourth, Baker McKenzie coming in seventh, Berwin Leighton Paisner in eighth, and Norton Rose Fulbright rounding out the top ten in tenth place.
