BLP closes Myanmar office due to slow business
Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has announced that it will be closing its Yangon office due to lack of work.
Office managing partner Chris Hughes and his Myanmar-based four-lawyer team will depart from the firm. The Myanmar office was short-lived, having been opened in November 2015 after Hughes’ recruitment from Baker McKenzie’s Yangon office.
The firm’s presence in Myanmar began in 2014, with the addition of local firm Legal Network Consultants to BLP’s Asia network. BLP will continue working on Myanmar transactions from its Singapore and Hong Kong arms.
