K&L nabs corporate partner from Jones Day in Tokyo
K&L Gates has recruited Jones Day counsel Dooyong Kang to join its Tokyo branch. He will join the firm as a corporate partner.
Kang’s focus is on M&A and strategic alliances. That includes financing transactions, licensing, joint ventures, and supply arrangements. He deals mainly in Japanese companies, advising on their cross-border transactions.
K&L Tokyo administrative partner Ryan Dwyer commented that Kang’s hire is meant to give a lift to the firm’s “already existing strength” in dealing with Japanese clients with international interests.
K&L made a very similar hire about a year ago, with the recruitment of Jones Day counsel Eric Sedlak, who also joined the firm’s Tokyo office as a corporate partner.
