Mayer Brown recruits New York partner from Freshfields
Mayer Brown has hired banking partner Ryan Suda from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer to join its New York office.
Suda began at Freshfields in 2005, and made partner in 2016. His hire comes two months after Mayer Brown’s hire of Scott Zemser, Allen & Overy’s (A&O) co-head of leveraged finance. Zemser had been at A&O for only two years before moving to Mayer Brown.
Freshfields’ New York branch has 31 partners. The magic circle firm did not promote any lawyers from the branch in its latest promotions round, and its most recent lateral hire of note was last year, when the firm brought in a three-partner bankruptcy team, who left Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer ahead of its merger.
