Mishcon de Reya announces second cohort of tech incubator
Mishcon de Reya (MDR) has made its selection of the companies invited to join the second cohort of the firm’s technology incubator program.
Beginning 8 May, five companies will spend the next 10 weeks working closely with the firm through the program to develop their products and services. Of the 16 companies that made pitches, held on 21 March in the firm’s London headquarters, the five to make the cut are DealWIP, Digitory Legal, LawPanel, LitiGate, and ThirdFort.
Unlike some other firms running incubator programs, such as Allen & Overy, MDR has opted to grant opportunities to early stage start-ups with less name recognition. According to Nick West, MDR’s chief technology officer and director of MDR LAB, the firm looks for legal tech start-ups led by people “with an interesting story,” who are “trying to solve a real problem.”
MDR has ongoing six-figure investments in two of the companies that participated in last year’s cohort, the firm’s first. Those companies are Everchron and PING SaltDNA.
