Cleary Gottlieb rehires former partner Edward Greene from Citigroup

Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP has announced that Edward Greene, General Counsel of Citigroup’s Institutional Clients Group, will return to the firm in February. Greene was a partner at Cleary Gottlieb until he joined Citigroup in 2004, and prior to joining Cleary Gottlieb in 1982 he served as both Director of the Division of Corporation Finance and General Counsel of the Securities and Exchange Commission. He will be based in the firm’s New York office and will focus on securities, corporate governance, regulatory, financial services reform and other corporate law matters. During his more than 20 years at the firm, Greene was a resident of the firm’s Washington, London and Tokyo offices, and was the first licensed foreign lawyer to be admitted to practice law in Japan in 1987.
