Swedish law firm merger creates 200-lawyer major player

Sweden’s third-largest law firm, Lindahl, and intellectual property and arbitration firm RydinCarlsten are set to merge, creating a firm employing 200 corporate lawyers. The merger will take place on 1 February 2009. The new firm will be called Lindahl. Advokatfirman Lindahl has offices in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Helsingborg, Malmö, Uppsala and Örebro. RydinCarlsten is a business law firm employing some 40 corporate lawyers. The firm focuses on intellectual property (patents, trade marks, copyright, etc) and dispute resolution. Following the merger Lindahl will employ over 300 people and is expected to have a turnover of SEK 500 million, making it Sweden's third-largest law firm measured both in number of employees and fee revenues. According to Mergermarket, Lindahl is also Sweden's third-largest transaction-driven law firm in terms of the number of deals in which it has been involved.
