Block on Coca-Cola's Huiyuan Juice bid sparks fears over Chinese M&A

Beijing's decision to block Coca-Cola's $2.4bn takeover of China's leading juice maker Huiyuan Juice has caused a wave of domestic support. In a poll by a Chinese website, more than 80 per cent of 120,000 respondents "strongly agreed" with the rejection. Ministry of Commerce (Mofcom) said, allowing the takeover "would have an unfavourable impact on competition" and the US company may have been able to abuse its dominant status.
