Bingham McCutchen to acquire boutique McKee Nelson

Boston-based 1,000-lawyer firm Bingham McCutchen has agreed to acquire structured finance specialist McKee Nelson with 120 lawyers in Washington and New York. The acquisition will take effect Aug. 1 and will create a new law firm with more than $900 in revenues. McKee, founded ten years ago by two tax specialists from Atlanta-based King & Spalding, has suffered from the financial crisis because of its structured finance practice. In February, twelve structured-finance partners left McKee for London-based firm Ashurst. McKee was also said to be in merger talks with Baker & McKenzie.
