Ashurst pulls out of India after court ruling against foreign firms

Ashurst has is closing its New Delhi liaison office, which was set up in 1994 to advise for clients on the ground. Ashurst's decision to pull out of India comes after the Bombay High Court ruled against the practice of law by foreign firms in India in December 2009. Ashurst said it decided not to apply for an extension of the current licence for the New Delhi liaison office, which expires on 22 February 2010.
