Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz scores leading role on $3.48 billion energy deal

March 17, 2010 The sale of an Appalachian natural gas and oil business from Dominion Reources to Consol Energy Inc will be guided by Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. Consol have a long professional relationship with the firm. The M&A team is led by Corporate partner David Katz, who is working alongside partners Joseph Larson, Adam Shapiro, Eric Rosof, and Deborah Paul.

Consol has also secured the services of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld for the transaction's oil and gas matters. James Rice III, head of Akin Gump's energy and global transactions practice, led the team working on the project, which partners William Church Jr, Lisa Gallerano, Paul Gutermann, Joseph Motes III, Bruce Simonetti, W Thomas Weir and Mark Zvonkovic.

The Kentucky-based firm Stoll Keenon handled title due diligence for Consol.

Baker Botts represented Dominion Resources with a team led by partner Hugh Tucker, who has represented the company since the early 1990s. Partners Steven Leifer, James Raborn, Mark Bodron, Mitch Lukin, and Greg Nelson also worked on the Baker Botts team.
