Dechert announces new leadership

After 25 years in the dual roles of chairman and CEO of Dechert, Barton Winokur will step down in mid-2011. Dechert has called on top litigator Andrew Levander to become the firm’s new chairman, while private equity group head and vice chairman G. Daniel O'Donnell will become the firm’s CEO. Winokur will continue practicing law as a full-time partner following the transition. He said of the appointments: "I have worked closely with Dan for nearly 30 years. During my time as chairman, he has been a key part of the leadership of the firm and has been involved in every significant firm decision. I've worked closely with Andy for five years. He has been an important leader in both thought and action and he too has been an essential participant in every major decision." He added: "I look forward to working closely with them both during the transition and thereafter as well."
