Clifford Chance and Freshfields appoint new German leadership

Clifford Chance and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer have both appointed new leaders for their German practices. Freshfields has elected Klaus-Stefan Hohenstatt as the new managing partner for Germany, Austria and Central and Eastern Europe, effective 1 September 2010. He replaces corporate partner Manfred Finken, who has held the top job for two consecutive terms, since 2004. Hohenstatt previously served the firm as the global employment, pensions and benefits head (CEE), and the firm has appointed London partner Nick Squire to replace him in that role. Meanwhile, Clifford Chance has elected German corporate head Andreas Dietzel to the role of German managing partner. Dietzel will take over the role from Hans-Josef Schneider, and the firm has appointed Arndt Stengel to take over the leadership of the German corporate group.
