16 months after associates volunteered for a pay cut to save jobs

When the Real Estate associates at Field Fisher Waterhouse were informed in February 2009 that there would be two compulsory redundancies in their department, they proposed to accept a pay cut in order to prevent the job losses. The majority of the department volunteered to accept a 10 per cent pay cut to save the jobs of their colleagues, and while a few associates opted out of the plan, there were enough volunteers to prevent the redundancies. Sixteen months later, these associates are still having their pay docked by 10 per cent, while their less charitable colleagues in the department and the other associates in the firm are on full pay. A spokeswoman for FFW confirmed that the situation wouldn't be formally reviewed until October.
