Orrick and Akin end merger talks without agreement

Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe and Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld have terminated merger negotiations less than a week after confirming that they were in preliminary discussions. A joint statement described the decision to end the talks as a mutual one, saying: “The firms appreciated the opportunity to have the discussions, which confirmed their mutual respect for one another.”
