Jones Day to open new office in Brazil

Jones Day has announced that it will open its second Latin American office in São Paulo, Brazil. Luis Riesgo, chair of Jones Day’s Latin American practice, is set to move to São Paulo to serve as Partner-in-Charge of the new office. The office will launch as a foreign legal consultancy in accordance with the regulatory requirements of the Brazilian Bar Association. Its primary focus will be advising global clients with investments in Brazil and greater Latin America, and the office will also work with local firms to provide legal counsel to Brazilian companies in their international operations. Stephen J. Brogan, managing partner of Jones Day, said: “Brazil is a dynamic, expanding economy, and one of the world’s key emerging markets.” He added: “It is a significant commodity producer, a world leader in energy, and home to some of the most important worldwide infrastructure projects undertaken in recent years.”
