Legal business booming in Indonesia, India and Vietnam

Foreign and domestic law firms in Singapore have reported a boom in capital markets, M&A, energy, infrastructure and arbitration work from Indonesia, India, Vietnam and Singapore in the past year. Freehills Singapore head John Dick says that the coal and mining industry in Indonesia have been the source of considerable work flows. He notes that Indian companies have invested heavily into Indonesia, bringing M&A work to the region. Firms have also seen increased workflows from deals in India and Vietnam, with Jones Day capital markets and banking partners Manoj Bhargava and Sushma Jobanputra reporting exponential growth in deal flow.
