Survey predicts more cuts to equity partnerships

The days of cuts to the partner ranks are not over, according to a new survey onducted by the Amercan Lawyer. The survey reports almost 70 per cent of the 124 respondents said their firms plan to ask partners to leave in 2011, and 31 per cent have plans to de-equitize partners. The news is bad for associates, too. More than 87 per cent of respondents said the number of first-year associates hired next year will be the same or fewer than 2010's small associate classes.
