Jones Day set to open Boston base after hiring 5-strong team from Hanify & King

December 13, 2010 Jones Day has secured the hire of five partners from Boston firm Hanify & King, including co-founder John D Hanify, for its new Boston base, which is due to launch in January 2011.

Hanify & King was founded 30 years ago and has a stable of around 40 lawyers. The five partners making the move include the firm’s commercial litigation head John D Hanify; commercial litigation lawyers Jeffrey J. Upton and Michael T. Marcucci; employment law litigator Karen A. Whitley; and civil litigation lawyer Christopher M. Morrison.

“It’s always difficult to leave something that you’ve been so proud of and something that represents a high degree of quality and excellence,” said Hanify. “I’m sure [Hanify & King] will continue to do the great work it’s been doing all along. We’ll miss our friends there, but hope to work with them in new contexts.”
