Regulation of lawyer ads relaxes in New York

December 15, 2010 Lawyer advertising is heavily regulated in the United States by state bar associations, but New York attorneys may have more room to move after the Supreme Court decided on Monday not to intervene in a case on the issue.

The Second Circuit handed down a decision earlier in the year striking down many of the state’s regulations designed to ban attorney ads that contain unverifiable claims. That decision stands, now that the Supreme court has decided against taking the matter further.
