DLA Piper set to become the biggest firm in the world

DLA Piper is set to overtake Baker & McKenzie to become the largest law firm in the world by revenue and headcount when it merges with Australian law firm DLA Phillips Fox on 1 May, following a partnership vote. The merged firm will have more than 4,000 lawyers. DLA Piper Co-CEO Nigel Knowles and DLA Piper Global Chairman Frank Burch said, in a joint statement: "The cementing of the relationship between DLA Piper and DLA Phillips Fox is part of our Global Strategy and is an integral part in helping us become the world's leading business law firm. As part of our strategy we are committed to expansion within the G20 nations, and with Australia as the 14th largest industrialized nation it provides excellent opportunities with its strong ties to some of the most rapidly growing economies in Asia.”
