DLA Piper merges with DLA Phillips Fox to enter Australian market

International law firm DLA Piper has entered the Australian market after merging with local firm DLA Phillips Fox. The integration of the two firms bolsters DLA Piper’s presence in the Asia Pacific region, where it now has over 700 lawyers across offices in Bangkok, Beijing, Brisbane, Canberra, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Perth, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo. Managing partner for Australia, Tony Holland, said that the merger would be significant for the Australian legal market. “We are adding real value by offering a comprehensive range of legal services across a truly national and truly international footprint,” he said. "Integration has already enhanced our ability to compete for work in the region. Our new positioning in the market has been welcomed by our clients and is attractive to prospective clients, as demonstrated by our recent appointment to the panel of a major international investment bank."
