Scottish law firms hover above minimum wage for trainees

An interesting article here about the pay in Scottish law firms. According to the article, leading corporate firm Dickson Minto is the most profitable firm in Scotland. But while senior partners are taking home around £1.5m per annum trainees have seen pay cuts over recent years. The firm refused to comment except to confirm that trainees' pay has never fallen to Law Society minimum wage levels of £15,965. According to reports, there are other firms paying the minimum wage also, including MacRoberts. In a small job market with tough competition, young Scottish lawyers may just have to take what they can get.
