UK firm Irwin Mitchell starts outsourcing ahead of conversion to ABS
Irwin Mitchell is has announced that it will outsource 81 support staff in preparation for its conversion to an alternative business structure (ABS). The firm is pursuing a five year plan, under which it will shift its entire facilities operation – including document services and receptionists - to business process outsourcing company OCS.
Irwin Mitchell group operations director Gary Jackson said: "We have grown significantly as a firm in recent years, which has led to an increase in the facilities work we undertake. During that time we have built a very capable facilities team; however, we cannot lose sight of the fact that we are a law firm and our focus needs to be on ensuring that we continue to deliver high-quality legal services to all our clients."
Irwin Mitchell is set to be one of the very UK top 50 law firms to take advantage of the Legal Services Act, which allows firms to seek outside investment.
