K&L Gates launches first South American office in São Paulo

K&L Gates has announced the launch its first office in South America in São Paulo, Brazil. The new office will operate under Brazilian Bar Association rules as a "foreign legal consultancy," advising clients on international legal matters. Finance partner Marc Veilleux will relocate to São Paulo from New York and corporate and securities partner Alan Berkeley will relocate from Washington DC. The boom in Brazilian M&A has led many international firms to launch in Brazil’s financial capital, including Jones Day, Allen & Overy, Chadbourne & Parke, DLA Piper, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, and Davis Polk & Wardwell.
