US legal sector gains 100 jobs in November

The US legal sector grew by 100 jobs in November, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics' preliminary employment report. These modest gains follow the addition of 400 jobs to the sector in October, but growth does not restore the net loss of 3,100 jobs since November 2010. Meanwhile the total unemployment rate in the US dropped a two and a half year low at 8.6 per cent. The New York Times explains that the drop is due to a combination of employers hiring 120,000 people in November and 315,000 abandoning their active job searches.
