Herbert Smith to part ways with Gleiss Lutz and Stibbe on 31 Dec

The alliance between Herbert Smith, German firm Gleiss Lutz and Benelux firm Stibbe will officially dissolve on 31 December 2011. Following a strategic review, Herbert Smith went to its alliance partners to suggest a full merger, but the plan was rejected by the firms and they have agreed to go their separate ways, while maintaining “the strong relationships formed over the 10 years that the alliance has been operating”. The firms will continue to work together on those matters that are handled jointly by the firms, but their partnership will be non-exclusive.
