Non-lawyer appointed as CEO for US firm Pepper Hamilton

Philadelphia law firm Pepper Hamilton has appointed a non-lawyer as its chief executive, hiring Scott Green, the former executive director of WilmerHale, to lead the firm. Green takes the helm at a time of significant challenge, as client demands for economy and value put pressure on both the firm’s system for training associates and on the bottom line. Green said that the firm will increase its use of outsourcing for litigation support services, and explained his plan to develop multiple career paths within the firm, so that the skills and knowledge of those lawyers for whom partnership is not appropriate are not lost. Pepper Hamilton will also focus on marketing and lateral hires in expanding practice groups.
