Palo-Alto firm Cooley boosts Shanghai office with partner hire

Palo Alto-based law firm Cooley has bolstered its Shanghai office with the hire of Christina Zhang, who leaves a role as the Shanghai-based vice president and Asia Pacific general counsel of Johnson Controls Inc, a US maker of facilities management systems.   Zhang joins Cooley as a partner in the business and technology practice group, a significant change after a number of years as an in-house counsel. Before joining Johnson Controls in 2008 Zhang spent two years as the chief China counsel for the former Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Inc., which merged with Pfizer, Inc in 2009. Before that, she spent eight years as a New Jersey-based assistant general counsel at pharmaceuticals giant, Merck & Co. Inc.
