Scottish firm Dundas & Wilson launch legal support services unit

Scotland's largest law firm Dundas & Wilson has launched a new budget legal service for handling routine work, such as filings, registrations and searches. The firm says that the Legal Services Unit will be a “firm within a firm”, offering clients a cheaper option with work performed by paralegals. The initiative was created by new joint managing partner Allan Wernham, and will be overseen by solicitor Fiona Letham. The unit currently has nine staff across a number of offices, and there are plans for recruitment and expansion. Wernham said: “The LSU is a breath of fresh air in the legal market and, as well as being advantageous for clients, it will benefit paralegals, who will have a new career path opened up.”
