New Chief Justices in Delhi, Kerala, and Punjab and Haryana High Courts

Three High Courts in India have appointed new Chief Justices. Justice Darmar Murugesan (61) of the Madras High Court was made Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, the Kerala High Court Acting Chief Justice, Justice Manjula Chellur (56), was was officially appointed Chief Justice the Kerala High Court, and the acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, Justice Arjan Kumar Sikri (58), has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court. At a farewell function for Acting Chief Justice Arjan K Sikri at the Delhi High Court, his Honour said that almost 95 percent cases are those where the results were known and it is not difficult to decide them but 5 percent may fall in the category of 'hard' ones, which pose professional challenge to judges. "If those cases (5 percent) relate to vulnerable groups and marginalised persons, justice has to be 'pregnated' with mercy," said Justice Sikri.
