Aston Carter's training scheme off to a slow start

The training scheme set up by London and Birmingham-based law firm Aston Carter is significantly under-attended, with just five paralegals starting the course, despite 30 having enrolled. The scheme was designed to offer an alternative route to a training contract, with graduates paying £9.5k to attend a six month paralegal course (run by Interedwise Consulting UK), after which Aston Carter will pay their fees of £13.5k to attend a part-time LPC while employing them as paralegals on a salary of £15k to £18k. Aston Carter predicted that its scheme could accommodate up to 60 training contracts, which commentators though sounded a little ambitious for a five-lawyer firm.
