Herbert Smith Freehills moves toward South Korea launch

Herbert Smith Freehills is one step closer to its long awaited launch in Seoul, after London-based partner Tony Dymond received Foreign Legal Consultant (FLC) approval from the South Korea’s Ministry of Justice. The firm is now entitled to lodge its application for a Foreign Legal Consultant Office (FLCO) certificate, which will, once granted, permit the firm to launch in South Korea. Dymond plans to relocate to Seoul to lead the office, where he will be joined by Singapore-based corporate partner Lewis McDonald. Initially, four associates transferring from HSF’s global network will join Dymond and McDonald in Seoul.
