DLA Piper's Australian staff miss out on pay rises

July 1, 2013 DLA Piper has announced that it’s Australian staff shouldn’t expect any pay rises after the region’s offices failed to reach budget targets.

Australia Managing Partner Andrew Darwin informed staff last week that “for many … there will be no increase in base salary this year and for others there will only be a modest increase.” Partners are affected along with their colleagues: “many partners will have no increases or, in some cases, a reduction in their remuneration.” And the firm has indicated that it will be cutting costs in other areas, such as travel expenses.

Darwin pointed out that trading was difficult for all the major firms in the region, and that despite a tough market the firm was in a strong position to do well in 2013/14.
