Scotland's top 5 law firms ranked

August 20, 2013 The view from the top has changed in Scotland, with the country's largest law firms reshuffling their positions after the takeover of McGrigors by Pinsent Masons and the merger of Burness with Paull & Williamsons.

The Lawyer magazine reports that a new top five has emerged in Scotland, with Dundas & Wilson taking first place when ranked by revenue, while Brodies takes second place ahead of Maclay Murray & Spens. Burness Paull came in fourth, overtaking Shepherd & Wedderburn, which now sits in fifth place.

Dundas & Wilson, Maclay Murray & Spens and Shepherd & Wedderburn all saw revenue fall in the last financial year, by 10 per cent, 13 per cent and 3 per cent respectively. Brodies grew its revenues by 8 per cent to £46m, while turnover at the combined Burness Paull grew by 3 per cent to £38.7m.
