Dorsey & Whitney exits Australian market

October 8, 2013 US legal giant Dorsey & Whitney is shutting down its Australian operation, a single-partner office opened in 2009. The resident partner is relocating from Sydney to Hong Kong.

The firm’s managing partner Ken Cutler said:  “Relocating John Chrisman and his sophisticated M&A and capital markets practice to Hong Kong will strengthen the platform and enable us to better serve our clients in the region.”

Australia has seen a significant influx of large US and UK firms in recent years. Baker & McKenzie has long had a presence in the country, and was recently joined by the likes of Squire Sanders, K&L Gates and Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan.
