London firm Davenport Lyons goes under
Davenport Lyons has been put into administration and sold to rival firm Gordon Dadds. Twenty-six of the firm’s 30 partners will be making the move to Gordon Dadds, along with the firm's six trainees, but over 50 staff now face redundancy.
The CEO of the failed firm, Richard William, told employees in the weeks before the firm’s collapse that he would be letting the staff know what was going on, and he said that the firm would only go into administration as part of a deal with a much larger firm. The subsequent sudden announcement that the firm would be going under and that it would be acquired by an 8-partner firm has angered many in the firm.
