Osborne Clarke launches new Amsterdam office
Osborne Clarke has launched a new office in Amsterdam, after hiring a team of four partners and three associates from Baker & McKenzie, Norton Rose Fulbright and Dutch firm Steins Bisschop & Schepel.
The Amsterdam office will be led by Michiel Odink, who led the Amsterdam IP practice for Baker & McKenzie. Also joining from Bakers is litigation and arbitration partner Jeroen Bedaux, who specialises in financial services work.
IT partner Jeroen Lub joined from Norton Rose Fulbright and employment partner Jorgo Tsiris joined from Steins Bisschop & Schepel, but this won’t be the first time that the two have worked at the same firm, since both were previously employed at Allen & Overy. In fact, Odink has worked with all four of the office’s founding partners at some point in the past.
The Amsterdam offering will focus, initially, on the digital business sector, with plans to expand into retail, financial services and energy practices in the future.
Odink noted: “Growth isn’t a focus in itself, but we’re absolutely looking to get bigger. We have a lot of candidates interested so we’re talking to several partners of international firms and larger Dutch firms who would really like to join Osborne Clarke.”
