Squire Patton Boggs acquires Tokyo firm

July 9, 2014 Squire Patton Boggs has boosted its offering in Japan via a merger with Tokyo-based law firm Mamiya Law Offices.

Mamiya bolsters the Squire Patton Boggs team with the addition of five lawyers with expertise in M&A, private equity, restructurings, securities, litigation and international arbitration.

“Not only do we share a number of major public institutional clients, but there are synergies with our financial services and intellectual property practices in Tokyo, which will lead to new and exciting opportunities in Japan as well as elsewhere around the world,” said Squire Patton Boggs’ Tokyo office managing partner, Ken Kurosu.

The merger brings Squire’s Tokyo practice to a headcount of nearly 40 lawyers.
