Fulbright & Jaworski encourages timely billing
Fulbright & Jaworski, a member firm of the Norton Rose Fulbright verein, has introduced a new time entry policy to encourage associates to bill time on time. The effort aims to “minimize unnecessary loss of billable time due to delayed time entry.”comments powered by Disqus
The policy requires attorneys to record their time on a daily basis, and to submit their time diaries twice weekly. Time Diaries for Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays must be entered no later than 9 pm the following Thursday, and Time Diaries for Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays must be entered no later than 9 pm the following Monday. The policy states that a practice leader may grant an exemption in exceptional circumstances, but if two exemptions have already been granted in a year, additional exemptions must approved by the Group Head.
The real teeth of the policy is that only time that is timely entered in accordance with the rules will be counted for calculating bonuses.
