Freshfields partner moves to Royal Bank of Canada

May 7, 2015 Commercial litigation partner David Onorato will depart Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer to become general counsel for the Royal Bank of Canada. Onorato had been at Freshfields for almost six years, working in the firm's New York office. Prior to his time at the firm, Onorato held the position of director of litigation for Bank of America. He spent five years at Bank of America, overseeing global litigation and regulatory issues.

David Allgood spent 17 years as the general counsel at Royal Bank of Canada and retired on 1 May. Onorato comes to the Royal Bank of Canada with almost 30 years professional experience, including 10 years as a partner at King & Spalding, prior to his stint at Bank of America.
