Herbert Smith Freehills senior partner in Australia departs firm

June 12, 2015 In Australia, the deputy senior partner at Herbert Smith Freehills, Mark Crean, has left the firm to join Jones Day in the region. Crean stood in elections last year for leadership fo the firm, but lost to James Palmer, who is based in London.

Palmer succeeded former senior partner Jonathan Scott, who stepped down three months earlier than the end of his term. Palmer was elected for a three-year term. Scott will retire in January.

Crean was previously chairman of legacy firm Freehills, serving in that role for more than a year before the firm’s merger. For two years, he served as deputy senior partner at the merged firm.

Crean spent more than 20 years at the firm going back to his time with legacy Freehills.
