White & Case opens office in Seoul
White & Case has moved into the South Korean market, opening an office in its capital Seoul. The country liberalised its legal market in 2011, allowing international firms to enter the market.
The firm is not new to Korea, having had a practice for the market for over twenty years already. The office will establish local support for clients, especially related to M&A, project finance, private equity and dispute resolution work.
Heading the new office will be commercial litigation partner James Lee, who is based in Los Angeles and oversees the firm's Korea practice group. He will relocate to Seoul to lead the new office. He is joined by Mark Goodrich, construction partner, who will move to Seoul from London, and Kyungseok Kim, corporate partner, who joined White & Case from Linklaters' Seoul office in March.
The firm will provide Korean clients with local support for UK and US law capability.
