Macfarlanes set to raise trainee intake numbers
Macfarlanes has said that it will increase its number of trainees in its next recruitment round. The firm currently takes 25 trainees each year. It expects to raise that number to between 27 and 30 trainees.
Several firms have recently taken similar measures. Burges Salmon will consider up to 30 trainees; Trowers & Hamlins increased its cohort from 20 to 23 trainees. Clifford Chance will recruit an additional 10 trainees as well. Meanwhile, many US firms like Shearman & Sterling and Latham & Watkins have announced that they will add more trainees in the future.
Macfarlanes has also announced its retention for this autumn. The firm had 19 qualifiers. It offered 18 of them positions, but only 14 took the offer. As a result, their retention rate came in at 74 percent.
