White & Case boosts PE team with two hires in London
White & Case has made two hires to boost its private equity offering in its London office. The firm has brought in partner Caroline Sherrell from Clifford Chance and Kenneth Barry from Debevoise & Plimption, who joins as partner.
Sherrell was at Clifford Chance for nine years, making partner in 2012. Sherrell's mandate will be to add business in the infrastructure space, where private equity activity has been increasing. She will team up with partner John Cunningham to grow the infrastructure deals for the firm.
Meanwhile, Barry is a senior associate at Debevoise, where he has been for the past four years, after time previously at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and Clifford Chance. Barry will focus on the oil and gas industries, where falling oil prices have sparked sell-offs. Additionally, Barry will assist in growing the firm's Africa private equity presence.
White & Case is making a strong push to build a formidable private equity offering in London. The firm brought in duo Ian Bagshaw and Richard Youle from Linklaters at the beginning of 2013, and the team is being built up around them.
